Relay for Life

One of the biggest fundraisers of the year is the Relay for Life in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.  People from around Wood Buffalo gather at Father Mercredi High School and walk around the track through the night to raise funds to fight cancer.  The track – turned into a glowing circle of light by hundreds of luminaries – is an inspiring sight, lighting the faces of volunteers, walkers and cancer survivors.

Thanks to the generous support of all the participants and the Wood Buffalo community as a whole, the 2011 Relay for Life raised an amazing $434,050.  Over one thousand participants and more than 100 enthusiastic volunteers gave their time, money and big spirit in support of this important cause while local musicians, dancers and artists kept the crowd entertained and motivated throughout the night.
